Evolution of Media

Mr. Rodel Opiana discussed, on the fourth day, the Evolution of Media, from the Pre-industrial Age to the present. It is amazing to see the evolution transcend from manual printing to the digital era we have today. After our lesson, Mr. Opiana gave us an activity to answer. It is a tabular form of the lesson we had.

An assignment was also given to us about the roles of media in the democratic society

EVO 1
Given the available media that we now have in the world, what are its roles and functions in a
democratic society?
1.       Amplifier – it will help people to voice out their opinions they think are unheard. For example, newly evolved media, such as twitter and facebook, help raise awareness on social issues
2.       Channel – connects the government, society and the people
3.       Information source – provides the people their right to be informed and helps the government to accomplish their responsibility to inform citizens
4.       Watchdog – helps eye the menace in the society including crimes, corruption and illegal activities.

In what way does media affect your life (personal, professional, academic, social, others)?

Media greatly affects my day to day activities. It provides me the information I need to survive, literally. I need it to study and learn, and grow to be a responsible and good citizen. I also use it to entertain myself. Life would be boring without it. It is also the basis of my routine. I am also aware of the happenings around me through media. It helps me keep myself safe.

There are reported incidents of landslide, evacuation, stranded vehicles and drowning. As a student, what are you going to do?"  This is my answer STAGES/ELEMENTS ANSWERS ...

Information Literacy (Laboratory)

Knowledge paved the way for the evolution of society. Information becomes knowledge in what way? Information is objective while knowledge is subjective. When a person is able to absorb, retain, and apply the information he received, that information becomes knowledge. This relationship could be compared to a raw agricultural product, which represents information, being processed into preserved food, which represents knowledge. The topic about Importance of Giving Credit was discussed and here are my opinions on it. Giving credit is a personal responsibility carried by everyone. It comes along with the privilege of creating something to call as your own. With privilege, comes responsibility. Giving credit is simply treating others the way you want to be treated. I guess no one w...
